Digitalization is now the main trend to follow

Yeil Dental Clinic situated on Hyoja-dong 2-ga, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk is a well-seasoned dental clinic with 20 years of history since it opened. Dr. Dong-hyeon Hwang, the director of the Clinic, is already a renowned personality in the region of Jeonju.
“You must always study. You won’t be able to adapt to the rapid changes without studying.”
Dr. Hwang first opened his clinic in Pyeonghwa-dong and transferred to the present location in Hyoja-dong in 2010. His dental clinic uses the entire building, which Dr. Hwang personally constructed.
Information Desk is situated on the 1st floor and dental care and treatments are provided on the 2nd and 3rd floors under the name of Yeil Dental Clinic. A dental clinic specializing in orthodontics is situated on the 4th, floor. Each floor has floor area of approximately 80 pyeong (265m2). Hyoja-dong is a newly developed urban center with the Provincial Government Building situated in close vicinity, thereby having great potential for further development.
Patients of all ages and genders visit the Yeil Dental Clinic, drawn by its excellent reputation. As such, patents with diversified age range of 20’s~70’s visit Yeil Dental Clinic.

Since it is a newly established urban center, a lot of younger people gather in this region. Therefore, you could say that our clinic is achieving growth on the basis of such youthfulness, like ‘A Place in the Sun’.
Dr. Hwang disclosed that he came across the navigation implant of DIO for the first time 3 years ago. Now, he performs 80% of the surgeries by using guide through navigation of DIO.
Even in the case of flap surgery that requires opening, he performs surgery by opening the flap with the use of guide. As such, it is substantially more convenient since he can discern the position in advance when embedding implant in the maxillary and mandibular bones.
In addition, with DIOnavi., the position of the implant can be improved by the top-down process where the prosthesis is designed first and implant location is decided after. Dr. Hwang explains that if the position improves, prosthetics design also becomes good since implant is embedded in alignment with the lower portion of the bone position or relationship of antagonist tooth.
He states that the level of satisfaction of the patients is very high for such surgical method. When the implant is without using guide, it is necessary to make incision on the gum and decide the position of by drawing line on the bone with pencil. As such, it is unavoidable that the direction of the implant becomes crooked regardless of how elaborately the surgeon implants.
However, in the case of the DIOnavi., pass becomes accurate after the implant has been placed and it is possible to place it in good location.
Patients experience pain during surgery mainly at the time of opening up the gum to place the implant and suturing the gum again. Problem is when the gum that has been exfoliated once attempts to bind onto the bone again, which induces sensitization, swelling and experiencing of pain.
In the case of flapless, there is absolutely no pain since the guide surgery performs placement only by entering through punching. Although it is bit more expensive, the satisfaction of the patient is very high to the extent of doubting whether the patient had undergone surgery or not.
Although implant surgery is in fact not a difficult procedure, depending on the points of view, it is perhaps the most difficult surgery at the same time.
Therefore, Dr. Hwang advises that once must be equipped with the capability to prepare for and cope with the possibility of failure in implant.
I think there is no major problem for those starting implant for the first time to begin with guided surgery.
If surgery is performed with DIOnavi., surgery becomes substantially easier and surgeon will not be stressed due to implant as long as the cases are selected well.
“Ultimately, we have no choice but to pursue digital dentistry.”
He stated that the level of satisfaction of the patients is very high because implant placement is provided along with tooth given to the patient when One-Day Implant is performed.
Although there are added costs, it is the opinion of Dr. Hwang that the dentistry will adhere to this trend. Therefore, there is also the ambience of prosthesis treading the trend of digitalization.
However, although many dental clinics are claiming to perform digital dentistry, dentists need to put greater efforts along with further advancement of relevant technologies in order to accomplish complete digitalization in the future.
For this reason, it is possible to feel his continued passion towards clinical research that appears to be stronger than those of youth even though he is a veteran with more than 20 years of extensive experiences.
